DPS-Modern Indian School bade farewell to retiring Principal Ms. Santosh Mattu in an evening function held recently at Al Ghazal Club, QP, Ras Abu Aboud. Present for the occasion were DPS-MIS Patron Ms. Aisha bint Mohammad bin Hammam, DPS-MIS President Mr. Hasan Chogule, Mr. M I Farid, Chairman Building committee, senior Vice President Mr. Yasir Nainar, Vice President Mr. Rocky Fernandes, Mr. George Thomas, Treasurer, Mr. Azim Abbas, Joint Treasurer, Mr. Harish Kanjani, Joint Secretary, Mr. R. Seetharaman, Group Chief Executive Officer, Doha Bank, Mr. Sanjiv Kohli, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Qatar, Mr. Anil Nautiyal, Mr. M.I. Qureshi (Indian Embassy), Ms. Santosh Mattu, Retiring Principal, distinguished members of Management, other dignitaries of the Indian Community, and school officials. |

A formal opening of the function was announced by Ms. Mou Bera, senior Activity Coordinator DPS-MIS, School officials presented songs befitting the occasion, followed by floral presentations and words of gratitude by Ms. Najla, Ms.Janice and Ms. Jaishree (Academic coordinators, Junior school). |

Acting Principal Ms. Asna Nafees welcomed the guests and on behalf of the school officials thanked Ms. S Mattu for being a living embodiment of love and care and for giving everyone the space to grow and excel. DPS-MIS Patron Ms Aisha thanked Ms Mattu on behalf of her father Chief Patron Mohamed Bin Hammam, ‘I am at a loss for words in such a function, ‘she said and wished her all the best. |

School President Mr. Hasan Chogule was appreciative of the good work done by Mattu all these years and thanked her for giving us a legacy to move ahead. “We meet to create memory and part to live the memory” he said and wished her good health and remembrance. ‘Mattu has always created an aura around her, she leaves behind a big challenge, elegance and legacy to carry ahead. She has been very graceful on all occasions. Every brick of the school, every child will speak of Mattu,’ said Mr. Yasir Nainar (senior Vice President). Executive Committee Member Mr.Sonny Varghese continued ‘we make a living with what we get and we make a life with what we give. Mrs. Mattu has contributed generously and devoted her ability to deal with complex situations,’ and wished her a wonderful life of peace and happiness. Doha Bank, Group CEO, Mr. R. Seetharaman acknowledged Ms. Mattu as a brave and emotional person, ‘She’s a Brand, an Influence that created an impact on everyone around her. Tremendous flexibility! That’s all about Mattu! |

‘The energetic and cheerful faces around clearly show Ms Mattu’s influence. She is a person who makes her personality felt. Respected and feared she leaves behind a rich legacy,’ said Mr. Sanjiv Kohli (Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Qatar, and wished her a more eventful life ahead. Retiring Principal Ms S Mattu in turn thanked each one. ‘I am overwhelmed by the love, adoration, adulation and respect bestowed on me and return to you, all that you have given me. Life has to be like a moving river which meanders around stones, we too need to rise above hurdles. Think of God, He is our strength in adverse circumstances’; she said and concluded with words of gratitude for the trust and recourse in her. ‘DPS-MIS will always be in my memory’ she continued. As a token of gratitude, Mementos were presented to her by the School Management and Mr. R Seetharaman, Group CEO, Dohabank. The farewell ceremony concluded with a Vote of thanks by Headmistress Ms. Shibanti Bhowmik followed by a music programme, photo session with Ms. S Mattu and then Dinner. |
