An inter school group dance competition was conducted by The Indian Cultural Centre ,an official body of the Indian expatriate community functioning under the patronage of the Embassy of India, Qatar at ICC on 28-11-2012. DPS-MIS students participated in all the four categories viz. sub-junior, junior, pre-senior and senior. The dancers created a powerful rapport with the audience through facial expressions, eye contact, and the general energy. The great enthusiasm, the execution of movement where the spacing was effectively managed, especially when the dancers transitioned across different parts of the choreography could be seen. The face make up, the vast array of bright coloured, sequined costumes, dazzling smiles added energy to the dance and was accompanied by the deafening cheers from the audience.

The sub-junior category presented Karagattam, a Tamil Nadu folk dance which is usually performed during the harvest festival (Pongal) with the props, a pot and the parrots. This dance is an instrumental dance where Thappati, an instrument is played.
The junior category presented a Rajasthani folk dance, Chirmi. This dance is performed for any celebration to make it joyous using the props a pot and fire flamed in it.

The pre-senior category performed a Kerala traditional dance, Thiruvadirkali. This dance is specially performed during Onam. It’s a circular dance where the dancers circle around a floral rangoli centered with a lamp.

The senior category performed a Punjabi folk dance,  Bhangada which is performed for all the joyous celebrations.

DPS-MIS bagged prizes in all the categories.

• First Place-Sub-Junior for Karagattam, Tamil Nadu folk dance
• First Place- Junior for Chirmi, Rajasthani folk dance
• Second Place- Pre-Senior for Thiruvadirkali, Kerala traditional dance
  First place - Senior for Bhangada, Punjab folk dance.

The Management and the school Principal, Ms. Asna Nafees, congratulated the winners.
