The Road Ahead

THE ROAD AHEAD

Qatar is a rapidly developing country which has depicted tremendous growth over the years. It has progressed in innumerable fields like sports, technology, energy and mineral resources to name a few. Though Qatar is a very small country, it has earned the title of one of the richest, leading, developing economies of the world.

Moreover, Qatar possesses one of the world’s largest reserves of oil and natural gas; the export of which is the main source of its notional income. Also it has a lot of bilateral ties with a number of foreign powers. The Qatari culture in itself is a fine blend of music, art, dress, and cuisine. But in spite of such physical and social ability the country still needs to focus on a few key areas.

As Qatar lies near the equator, it receives a large amount of solar energy which can be utilized by solar powered gadgets and machines. This energy also leads to low costs of production and also conserves resources of our country. This will also serve as a pollution free source of energy.

Proper disposal of storage of construction wastes and equipment should be maintained as they pose as obstacles when not cleared from the site after the work is done. They may also be the source of contamination and health hazards.

For reduction of heat and pollution in our country, more trees of different varieties should be planted all over Qatar. Such afforestation will be handy in curbing the pollution caused due to the emission of harmful gases like carbon dioxide.

Alternative means of public transport like trains should be introduced and the number of taxis and public buses should be increased so that people find no difficulty in travelling to different places in shorter periods of time. Modes of public transport like buses and trains can accommodate a large number of passengers and people do not have to depend on independent w=vehicles. Hence population is reduced.

Better traffic laws should be implemented to keep a check on the large number of vehicles in our country, broader roads should be built too.

Despite the traffic speed cameras and heavy fines, many people still manage to get away with over-speeding and cause many accidents every day. More speed radars should be installed and police patrolling in vulnerable areas should be increased.

Such measures cannot be indeed. It requires awareness, patience and effort. The participation of the community and the common people along with the government is a vital step to bring about these changes. Once the willingness arises so does the need, this will lead Qatar closer to the destination of development in all spheres hence ensuring its overall growth.
