DPS Modern Indian School debaters were declared champions in the
school category of Qatar Open Asian Parliamentary-style debate hosted by
Qatar Debate at the University of Doha for Science and Technology on the
27th and 28th of January 2023. 26 teams from different schools competed
for the title, out of which 6 teams were from DPS-MIS. |
Team Azhar Jaleel Muhammed, Archit Chhikara & Aryan Dubey of DPS
Modern Indian School won the best school team award and was qualified
for the quarterfinals. They were also ranked as the 5th best team
overall. |

In the school category, Antara Alurkar bagged the best speaker
award. Aryan Dubey and Gargee Kanade won the 2nd best speaker award,
followed by Azhar Muhammed and Vyusti Singh who bagged the 4th best
speaker award. Archit Chhikara, Surya Kauthik, and Vaidehi Rogiye
received the 6th best speaker award. Out of 10 best speaker awards, DPS
MIS students won 8 of them. In the Open Category, Antara Alurkar was
ranked 13th followed by Gargee Kanade and Aryan Dubey at the 16th
position. All 18 promising debaters debated for 4 rounds and gave a
tough fight to all the university participants with their unique style
and the ease with which they managed the impromptu motion was
commendable. |
The Asian Parliamentary tournament is an open tournament where
anyone from the debating community can debate. The competition gave
young debaters an opportunity to explore contemporary and future issues
in the fields of technology, bioethics, international relations, and
social equity. |
