Eloquence - The Publication Club organized a Literary Cafe meeting
on Zoom on Tuesday, 28 June 2022, under the supervision of Club Teacher
in-Charge Ms. Parvathy Gopalakrishnan. The Literary Cafe is the
Publication Club’s latest initiative to assist budding writers in their
journey of self-publishing. |

Though a writer loves solitude, these writers had to break the ice
first with a game of Rose, Thorn and Bud. This was followed by the
juniors’ and seniors' writing workshops: for grades 9-12, Anika Sahana’s
(11-B) minimalist presentation on practical writing skills and editing
advice such as show not tell, paved the way to a deep analysis on the
rhetorics of fiction, followed by the pros and cons of traditional
publishing and self-publishing. |
|
For the juniors (Grade 6-8), Vaidehi Rogiye (11-E) talked about
building a legendary fictional world and the various aspects of making a
fantasy universe: characters, cultures, regions, countries and
historical events. |
|
Azhar Jaleel Muhammed (11-C) guided the writers to analyze the poem
‘This is Just to Say’ by William Carlos William: the feelings, context,
and style, before delving into the ‘why’ behind form, meter, and
literary devices - interspersed by debates on the poet’s relationships
and psychology, and concluded with moral teachings. The Literary Cafe
gifted the writers with 3 free online English Literature Courses to do
during the summer. The organizers wish to conduct the next monthly
meeting offline in August or October. |
