DPS-Modern Indian School debaters brought home the Champion and
Runner-Up positions at the ultimate and conclusive tournament of the
2022-2023 season in the Qatar Secondary Schools Debating League
Nationals for Boys during the Grand Finals on 16th May 2023, at Awsaj
Academy. The run for the trophy started on 13th May with the beginning
of the National rounds at Al Andalus Private School for Boys where only
the top 16 teams of both leagues participated. |

Team A, composed of Azhar Jaleel Muhammed, Krish Nagrani, and Aryan
Dubey emerged as the Grand Finals winners, claiming the prestigious
title of National Champion. Krish Nagrani showcased exceptional debating
skills and was awarded the title of Best Speaker in the Grand Finals. |
Team B, consisting of Abhimanyu Gupta, Aritra Ghosh, and Surya
Kauthik, reached the Grand Finals, securing the Runner-Up position. |
The grand final debate was on the motion "This House Opposes Covert
and clandestine operations carried out by intelligence agencies in
foreign soil." The team was accompanied by the Vice Principals Ms. Soma
Bhattacharjee, Ms. Mary Cruz, Ms. Shifa Shaikh, Academic coordinator,
Ms. Rakhi Mishra, Activity Coordinator, Ms. Priti Modi, Coach Ms. Jaya
Majumder and Ms. Jasmeet Kaur Khanna. The boys received several
prestigious awards, including National Champion, National Runner-Up, and
League Championship titles. In addition, the DPS debaters proudly
brought home the cherished running trophy. |

In the individual league awards, Daiwik Dhar clinched the 1st
position followed by Mehull in 3rd, Azhar in 4th, Aritra in 5th and
Krish in the 9th position. |
The school principal, Ms. Asna Nafees expressed immense pride in the
debaters' accomplishments, highlighting the importance of critical
thinking, research based learning and persuasive communication skills. |
