personal statements—both essential components for college applications,
a session on Showcasing Accomplishments: Discussing Extracurricular
Activities in University Applications by Alena Savitskaya, Minerva
University, San Francisco and Crafting an Effective Personal Statement:
Key Considerations and Common Pitfalls by Camille Watson, Baylor
University. A significant highlight was the session on Transforming
College Counseling with AI: Unlocking New Possibilities by Jacqueline L.
Nottingham, Academic Bridge Program, which explored how technology can
be leveraged to better support students in identifying career paths and
making informed decisions. |
Another critical topic covered was the International Student
Services by Greta Carlson, INTO University Partnerships, which provided
a comprehensive overview of the key deadlines, from application
submissions to the visa process to pathway program, helping counselors
prepare students well in advance. |
The forum concluded with an engaging panel discussion on bridging
the gap between school counseling and college admissions. Panelists were
Noura Al Kuwari, Wadih Abou Aziz and Suha Rabah. Experts shared
strategies on how to ensure a smoother transition for students,
addressing concerns like aligning school resources with the expectations
of higher education institutions. This discussion emphasized the
importance of collaboration between schools and colleges to better equip
students for their academic journeys. Overall, the session helped gain
valuable knowledge that will enrich career counseling practices and help
guide students more effectively. |
