Publication Club Hosts First-Ever Book Discussion

Eloquence, the Publication Club, hosted its very first book club meeting on 14 May 2022 to encourage reading by providing a platform for informal and open discussions about books. Two meetings were held - one for the seniors and one for the juniors.

The senior book club members (students of grades 9 - 11) read 'Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie, and the juniors (students of grades 6-8) read 'Coraline' by Neil Gaiman. The meetings kicked off by engaging the audience in a competitively fun game of 'Two Truths and a Lie'.

The floor was then opened to an interactive discussion about the plot, and the twists and turns it took. The themes and genres were discussed, along with character analysis and readers'expectations. Controversial plot points were put up for debate.

One member commented, "That was really fun! It was great talking to others who read as much as I did. I had a great time dissecting the book and just chatting... all in all it was nice seeing different people with different experiences who were not so different from me. I hope to have as good [a] time as this for the next book and meeting as well." Another said, "We had a great meeting." Yet another said, "It was a lot of fun."
